Nodds Review Ava Roasteria is centrally located in Old Town Beaverton near the Library on Hall Blvd. They are a locally owned business and dedicated to the community of Beaverton. In fact, they are probably the only coffee house in the city that can boast the mayor's personal support and endorsement.
So what makes Ava Roasteria so unique? Could it be it's open and modern design with a twelve foot cascading waterfall and a hundred foot long stream that flows around the premises? Or maybe its the fact that it has free Wi-Fi and open 24/7 to make it convenient for both business people and students at any hour of the day or night? Or maybe its the live local musicians that play every weekend that makes this place so special? Yes, it could be any of these but what keeps me and many others coming back time and again is Ava's bread and butter: excellent coffee, teas and delicious deli sandwiches. Can't forget about their in-house bakery that serves up fresh European pastries and cakes of all flavors for that special occasion. "Her desserts are fabulous", mentioned Keven Boyett, a frequent patron of Ava's told me. In fact "all of the desserts that I've tried have been probably the best on the west side, if not Portland overall." And with all the fine specialty bakers in the metropolitan area, this I high praise indeed!
But Ava's goes beyond being a simple eating establishment as the owner (who asked not to be named) was quick to point out. It's also a statement about what can be done to improve and revitalize a community. "Our coffee house is a showcase of what you can do with contaminated property" the owner said. "We've taken land that used to be a former gas station that nobody wanted and turned it into an environmentally friendly eating establishment." And in the process, to their neighbors delight, they raised the land value for the entire Old Town area or ‘Diamond District' as her husband would like to call it. "We look forward to a time when the residents of Beaverton can come to this Old Town area and walk around the shops like they do in the Pearl District," he said. Yes, a safe, happy and enjoyable place with Ava's at the center.
As a 24 hour establishment, Ava bills itself as a safe 'hangout' for teens, students, business people and families at all hours of the day and night. "I am happy to see the police stop by on their breaks to get coffee and then to see kids here in groups or for study... it feels good and as a mom, I want other parents to feel secure knowing their kids are here in a safe environment." Yes, Ava Roasteria epitomizes all that can be asked for in a locally owned community coffee house. See you there! Welcome to Ava Roasteria Our Story What used to be an abandoned brownfield has been transformed into a beautiful coffee house.
