Nodd's Review

"It's not a luxury, its just Dinner!"

This is the simple message as Steve Harris, owner of Dinners Done Right (located in the Greenway Town Center on the back side facing 121st Ave) would tell it. But if you ask me, I'd say its both: a luxurious dinner that they prepare and you take home to eat right away or freeze for later.

Upon entering I was greeted by Steve who showed me around and told me of the exciting new changes that will set this store apart from other meal preparation stores:

  • Kitchenette stations gone: The biggest change is that the ‘do-it-yourself' kitchenette stations are gone. Yup, no more planning two hours of your time to get your meals!
  • Convenient Grab and Go: Now it's all about convenience with ‘Grab and Go' or ‘Take and Bake' meals that are prepared fresh right in front of you (Papa Murphy's style) but if you have a large order, I recommend calling in ahead of time.
  • A larger menu to select from: The menu used to contain 12 items that changed monthly but now there is a huge menu of over 57+ different dinners from which to select.
  • Lunch Sandwiches: As a great alternative to fast food, now you can drop by for lunch to get freshly made sandwiches. Kalua Pork, Irish Pie... you won't find these at the deli!
  • Lots of extras: In addition to the full meals, you'll now be able to choose sides, salads, desserts, kid's meals, vegetarian meals, low-fat meals, holiday specials and seasonal favorites.

"We're just responding to our customers and that means providing more convenience, more choices, more control for our customers at a price that's on par with even fast food." So would you rather have a burger, fries and coke or a Kalbi Beef Flank with all the fixings? A sub sandwich or Cranberry Glazed Turkey Breast? A burrito or Sole Florentine?

For me, it's a simple choice and if you look in my freezer you'll find a custom ordered Pepperoni and Mushroom Calzone, Double Sausage Stir Fry, Curried Honey-Mustard Chicken and Beef - Broccoli Lo Mein, yum! Each of these meals are low fat and low sodium and take less than 20 minutes to prepare. The one bit of advice I can give if you buy several meals to store in the freezer like I do is to take care to thaw them out ahead of time to save time and make life much easier. For me, it's a convenient low cost way of eating healthy restaurant quality meals at home. No more messy kitchen clean-up either! Got little ones and haven't been to a restaurant in a while? Got a hot date and don't know what to fix? Well, Dinner's Done Right could be your perfect solution.
