Nodd's Review My eyes are open and I see quite clearly that the place to go to ‘see clearly' is... Beaverton Vision World.
I arrived to my appointment just a early so had a little time to look around and was impressed with the selection of brand name frames on display. But what surprised me the most was finding a baby grand piano just off the showroom floor that I later found out is often played to create a warm and relaxing atmosphere for the customers and patients... how classy! The doctor greeted me warmly and took me back into the exam room where all the high-tech machinery was. She was friendly and explained each procedure in terms I could understand and even though I had a lot of questions, she was patient enough to make sure I was at ease with the procedures. It was over pretty quick and overall, I would give my experience an ‘A' (definitely a place I can recommend to my family and friends).
Beaverton Vision World is hard to miss as you drive down Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy. Located just off Hwy 217 across from the Arco station, this beautiful white building houses over 2000 different frames from some of the best designers around and all are locally selected. But although they have the latest and best lens options (from polycarbonate and high-index materials to anti-reflective coatings and progressive no-line bifocals), it's not just a prescription and frame shop. The doctors here have skills and equipment to treat a variety of conditions and diseases that other places would end up referring out. "We are more than just a place to get glasses and eye exams," says Dr. Kamilia Massih, owner and optometrist, "we have invested in state of the art equipment that can test for a variety of conditions including glaucoma... and this is all done in order to better serve our customers." Serving customers. Satisfied customers. Yes, this is the impression you will get from even a short conversation with Dr. Massih and although she is a successful business woman (with clinics near Portland State University and in Tigard), she has kept her focus on her patients. "To make money is good but to have a totally satisfied customer, that makes me happy." She went on to say with a very warm smile that she wanted to make a complete high tech vision clinic that could treat any customer that walks in their door, whatever their need:
- Emergency care
- Eye infections
- Foreign body removal
- Diagnosis, treatment and co-management of glaucoma and cataracts
- Lasik surgery consultation and co-management
- Dry eye syndrome
- Vision therapy

Dr. Kamelia Massih

As founder of Beaverton Vision World, Dr. Massih believes that working hard to bring you the best has made her success possible. She explains: "I opened the doors on November 15th, 1989 in a converted small house and in the first hour, a lady walked in asking if we accepted new patients! I took that as a good sign!" Now, in a 3000 square foot brand new building designed by herself and her father that question is always answered, "Yes, indeed!"
Dr. Kamelia Massih is licensed with the Oregon Board of Optometry. She is an Oregon State University Graduate; studying in both chemical engineering and biological sciences. She then received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University in 1985. Additionally, she spent two years training at a Corneal Surgery facility in Bakersfield, California, working with patients who had undergone corneal transplants and refractive surgeries. In order to stay current in her field and to better serve her patients, Dr. Massih has also obtained additional certification in oral and injectable ocular therapeutics. She is an avid reader of scientific magazines and continually updates herself on the newest information in the eyecare industry.
Dr. Massih specializes in a wide range of optometric services, including diagnosing and treating eye diseases, children's vision testing and prescriptions, hard to fit contact lenses, laser surgery consultation and co-management, keratoconus management, orthokeratology, sports vision and safety eyewear.
Dr. Massih and her staff continually make every effort to make each visit comfortable, informative and beneficial to each and every patient.
Dr. Andrew Olson O.D.
Andrew Olson grew up in Tucson, Arizona and had known he wanted to be in the health field for as long as he can remember. He has always been interested in a career that combined helping others with a strong interest in science. With that goal, he attended the University of Arizona and earned a bachelor's degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He decided on optometry due to its reputation for allowing a close patient-doctor relationship and still allowing ample time for family. He was accepted to Pacific University College of Optometry and graduated in 2007. He currently practices at both Broadway and Beaverton Vision World, and works hard to ensure his patients get the best possible care. He has experience with the full spectrum of optometry including eye disease treatment and management, contact lenses, vision therapy, pediatric and geriatric care.

Dr. Sara Williams O.D.
Dr. Williams graduated from Pacific University with honors, receiving a BS in Biology and a Doctorate in Optometry. Her inquisitive nature combined with a desire to help others led her to pursue a degree in the medical field. She chose to practice optometry after working with Pacific University's Pediatric Optometrist, where she learned that thousands of children have undetected vision related learning disabilities that prevent them from being successful not only in school, but also in life. Vision impacts every part of our lives, and Dr. Williams is passionate about providing the most comprehensive care for all of her patients to maximize their vision and ocular health. She specializes in Primary Care Optometry, Pediatrics, Vision Therapy, Ocular Disease, and Contact Lenses. |
