Perhaps the flagship of the Standard TV and Appliance stores, the Beaverton branch on the corner of Hall and Cedar Hills Blvd is simply beautiful. With an exterior that resembles a luxurious mountain lodge, this store does not disappoint. As I entered the front door, I was greeted by Joe Mosee who, if this store were truly a flagship, would be everyone's favorite cruise director. With a big smile and warm handshake, this big guy will guide you around the truly astonishing array of home appliances. From several complete model kitchens to row upon row of large and small appliances on the showroom floor, Standard boasts over 10,000 items in stock in over 40 major brand names. There is an incredible selection here and just to give you a sample of how vast their inventory is...

• 201 different refrigerator models
• 124 different range models
• 60 different cooktop models
• 50 different wall oven models
• 106 different dishwasher models
• 65 different washer models
• 69 different dryer models

... and that's just the beginning because don't forget about the ‘TV' portion of their name which is just as complete and, well, complicated. Yes, quite complicated and confusing and mind-boggling trying to wade through the model numbers, spec sheets, prices, feature lists and so forth and so on. So how can anyone make sense of all this? Well, unless your name is Joe Mosee, you're probably going to be as lost as me.

"I was pretty much born into the home appliance business" recalls Joe, "and my father was good friends with Clement Gander (the founder of Standard)" In fact, Joe went to school and church with Mr. Gander's son, Bill, who now operates the business. He then moved on to help his father successfully run the Mosee Brothers Appliance business for many years. And even now, with the industry changing so quickly, Joe commits himself to taking almost two product training sessions each and every week in order to better serve his customers.

With so much ‘home appliance' permeating almost every aspect of Joe's life, is it any wonder that he married Cathy Mosee, a woman as dedicated to home appliances as he? "Working together in the same store is not as difficult as you may think," Joe told me through his famous grin, "I may only have one or two short conversations a day with her and when we get home, it's not uncommon for her to ask, ‘so how was your day?'" Well, I'm not sure how he answers Cathy but if you are lucky enough to be one of Joe's loyal customers, your answer will most certainly be that your day was great day because you got the appliance you needed and for a price that literally could not have been any better ... its their guarantee!

So if you are looking for a new appliance or even a whole new kitchen, drop by Standard TV and Appliance and on my recommendation, be sure to ask for either Joe or Cathy Mosee. I did and got the best service of my life. This writer is now the proud owner of a new king sized mattress, refrigerator, washing machine and clothes dryer and thanks to Joe, I saved a ton of money and had a great experience. Thanks Joe!
