Nodd's Review

"The journey to harmony... begins with peace in Beaverton" (Nodds, 2007). Deep, huh. Well, perhaps its better if I put it this way: if there is one place in Beaverton that not only embraces the concept of peace and harmony but can also help you experience it as well, it's the Jade River Healing Arts Center. Many of us naturally think that peace is created outside ourselves: like when two countries shake hands, or when we go on vacation to the mountains or when we return to a quiet home after a busy day. And while all these may be true to a certain extent, from my time at Jade River I've discovered that real peace, or the most important kind at least, comes from within and can be achieved even when the outside world seems crazy, chaotic and just plain messed-up. Yes, with just one visit to any one of the Jade River practitioners, you will experience inner peace, bodily peace... and from this peace comes harmony.

So what's so important about harmony? That's the same question I asked Dawn-Starr, owner and licensed acupuncturist there. "The restoration of harmony within the body is what brings about great healing", she said, "and while western medicine plays an important role in health, it's the Eastern healing arts which look at the body as a whole that can often times bring about results that elude traditional doctors." Got something broken... Need surgery? Definitely go to the hospital. Got allergies, asthma, pain (shoulder, neck, elbow, knee...), migraines, insomnia, stress, PMS, diabetes, high blood pressure or whatever... I mean the list goes on and on and on... then you may not need an HMO doctor. Instead, I recommend the Jade River Healing Arts Center who will not only help your body restore itself back into a state of harmony but will enhance that feeling of inner peace that so often eludes us in our daily lives.

So visit the Jade River clinic for a free consultation. I did and enjoyed the complete experience. The waiting room was clean and comfortable in its East Asian décor. In fact, the whole office has that exotic East Asian feel to it including the treatment rooms which reminded me of some of the living rooms I visited while living in Japan (nice touch!). There's complimentary herbal tea in the waiting room and a wealth of informative books, literature and a fully stocked medicinal herb and supplement cabinet to browse through. I've also been lucky enough to meet each practitioner in person and can tell you that they are some of the nicest people. Not only are they professional, skillful and knowledgeable on a variety of subjects pertaining to health and Eastern medicine, but they're all very fun: quick to smile and quicker to laugh. I felt right at ease and had the sense that my healing had begun from the moment I walked through their door! So on my recommendation, if you're looking to heal (from the soul to the head through the heart and to all parts of the body), please visit the Jade River Healing Arts Center and take that first precious step towards your journey to harmony.
