Nodd's Review I have met with Dawn-Starr several times and each time left feeling just a little bit better for the encounter. I don’t know what it is. Maybe its her enthusiasm about helping others, maybe its her knowledge about women’s issues and the empathy she feels towards all her patients, maybe its her laugh… maybe its all these things and more. "There is nothing more meaningful than simply being present with people who are in pain or suffering” Dawn-Starr said, “and then acting with compassion and skill to help foster the re-emergence of health and balance for them." It’s all about the harmony of body, mind and soul... about balance and the peace and healing that comes from it. And where would she get such deep knowledge and insight?
A dedicated student of Tibetan Buddhism and meditation for more than 15 years, Dawn-Starr enjoys yoga, Tai Qi, Qi Gong and many activities that allow her to be outdoors… her favorite of which is taking long walks with Grace, her Labrador Retriever and best friend. She has also volunteered for many years in various healthcare settings, including hospice work, prison work, and in women's reproductive care in low-cost or free clinics. As an acupuncturist and massage therapist, Dawn-Starr specializes in women’s health care including menstrual/menopausal symptoms and disorders, PMS, migraine headaches, fertility enhancement and birthing support. Dawn-Starr Crowther is a healer, a counselor and a therapist and you can reach her at the Jade River, a Healing Arts Center that she founded back in 2003 to serve the residents of Beaverton. About Dawn-Starr Dawn-Starr Crowther, L.Ac., L.M.T., founder and owner of Jade River Healing Arts Center, graduated from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 2003, from the East-West College of the Healing Arts in 2000, and practices in Oregon as both a Licensed Acupuncturist and Licensed Massage Therapist.
In 1992, Dawn-Starr was diagnosed with a serious "incurable" illness. Desiring options other than the limited ones offered by conventional medicine, she sought treatment through Complementary Medicine. When Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine and Qi Gong turned her life around by providing healing, she knew she had to "pay it forward," by studying, and then practicing, Oriental Medicine. Her medical practice is informed by her deep commitment to - and personal knowledge of - the radical transformation and healing this medicine can offer.
