Nodd's Review
Located right on the Murrayhill fountain, Café Murrayhill has got to have one of the most beautiful dining views in all of Beaverton. Outdoor seating on the patio during the warm summer months is a fabulous experience but no matter the season, coming here to dine is said to be "one of Beaverton's best kept secrets." But not if I can help it!
Having the fortune of living just down the street, I'm able to visit here often. At first, I thought this place to be just another coffee house that specialized in breakfast (try their house CMH Benedict with avocado, tomato and spinach, yum!). But since it's opening in 2006, they've done well to add some great lunch and dinner items that are unique to Café Murrayhill. "Justin Webb has been our executive chef since our opening," Bob Corser, the store manager, told me over a cup of steamed Chai Tea. "He has an incredible flare for food as well as a passion for cooking... everything he does is from scratch." And this combination is a recipe for some delicious items. For Bob, he told me his favorite sandwich is the Ruben, but unlike a typical sub shop sandwich, this Ruben is made with pastrami that is cured fresh on site and the sauce is of course made from scratch by Justin. "The flavors he puts together really work, " Bob continued, "and that makes for some very special sandwiches and original dinner items with fresh flavors". Check these out these yummy delights:
- For Breakfast, I already told you about the CMH Benedict so try the Greek Frittata made with olives, artichokes, sundried tomatoes and feta cheese.
- For lunch, I like the Angus Beef Burger stuffed with blue cheese or their Club Panini that has smoked turkey, apple wood smoked bacon, avocado and herb mayo on handmade Focaccia bread.
- And for dinner, how about the Flat Iron Angus Beef Steak that comes right here from Northwest. It's seasoned with pacific smoked sea salt & dried mushroom with a herb compound butter.
Okay, so can you tell that we're not talking about your average café here? But we are also not talking about a luxurious restaurant either. I mean, with lunch prices under $10, this is a place where people can come on their lunch break for take out or sit down. Or how about a nice place to take the family on the way back from Sunday morning services? Night out with the guys (or girls)? No problem. Café Murrayhill has a good selection of local beers and wine too. In fact, Bob told me that their goal is to be as green as possible and to use as many local farmers and products as possible too. It's all part of their efforts to be a friendly, family oriented and community-focused restaurant. Yes, Café Murrayhill is definitely my kind of place. See you there!
