Welcome

Beaverton PAL (Police Activities League) is a unique partnership between kids, cops and the community, providing kids with solid programs and positive adult role models. Located in the Beaverton Resource Center on Allen Blvd at Hall (behind the Shell station), we are a safe and fun place for youth to go when they aren't in school. PAL is open to all youth ages 8 -18 years old and Membership cost is $50.00 a year, September 2010 - June 2011.

Jocelyn Taylor is the Program Director of Beaverton PAL and is on a first and last name basis with all of the youth that attend. Located in the Beaverton Resource Center on Allen Blvd at Hall (behind the Shell station), Jocelyn dedicates herself, through PAL, to providing quality after school and day camp programs during the summer to Beaverton area youth. PAL is a place where kids can come after school to work on homework, make new friends, play games, learn life skills, and just have fun.

Boxing

The very popular Beaverton PAL Boxing Program meets Monday and Wednesday from 6:00-8;00pm. From 6:00 - 8:00 Amateur Boxing team members participate in conditioning, training, and sparring. In total there are over 40 boxers and 6 coaches in the gym and programs are available for both competitive boxers and those just looking for a fitness workout.

In addition to weekly training, Boxing team members and coaches travel on weekends to tournaments.  This year 5 of our boxers attended the National Silver Gloves Boxing Tournament and two particpated in the Junior Olympics in Denver.

The cost of boxing is $95.00 for the season, which runs September 15th through July 15th. You will need two pictures and a copy of the boxer's birth certificate to participate.

Summer Camp

June 20 - August 19th we offer themed camps for $50.00 per week. Each camp includes breakfast, lunch and field trips. Please call 503-469-9137 for more information.

(Be sure to view or print out a pdf of our Summer Camp flyer at the top of this page)

At the Center

At PAL, we have a games room that's always full of kids playing pool, table tennis, foosball, or watching movies on our big screen TV. There is an IBM Learning Center here where we encourage youths to study by having them participate in our "Homework Club" working on projects to earn points to go on field trips or have parties. We also host the Intel Computer Clubhouse that all youths have access to... it's a place where youth can come in and experience firsthand the same graphic design and computer software that professionals are using every day in their jobs. During summer and spring breaks, PAL conducts themed weeklong camps with meals served and field trips almost everyday. Perhaps the most well known program is our PAL boxing facility where our team is always busy with practice and competitions.
