This Beaverton based business specializes in referral and placement for seniors no matter the situation . In fact, Amie enjoys the challenge of finding the right situation for each of her clients, often with only 3 to 5 days to accomplish it. "Making sure my clients have the best quality of life possible given the circumstances that have led them to us - that's my goal every day."
Hugely influenced by her grandfather, Amie recalls: "Papa taught us about fishing, camping and astronomy... he even let us drive his old truck when I was only 9 or 10 years old!" These and many other happy experiences fostered an appreciation and affection for the elderly and brought Amie naturally to her life profession.
It was 1999 when Amie came to Portland after earning her degree in Social Work from the University of Montana. She worked as Social Service Director for 4 years in various skilled nursing facilities before starting her own business as a Placement Referral Specialist. "Many situations are crisis driven," says Amie who has a keen desire to alleviate the anxiety that often accompanies those seeking her services. "Typically our clients are being released from the hospital or rehab setting and unable to return to their previous living situation".
The staff at The Senior Resource Network know the many considerations in selecting the right residence most suitable for their clients and that's why Amie ensures that all the right questions are addressed. "One simple thing we do is to take people on tours of facilities, for example, providing them more feedback and background to ensure the facility is the right one." It's all about love and respect and making sure the ones we care about are in the right situation.
"My mother tells the story of when I was 2 and how I wandered away in a restaurant and was found sitting at a table with an elderly gentleman," Amie muses. "I guess I've always been drawn to senior citizens."
